The Highland Wildlife Park is open year round and is a fantastic attraction for visitors of all ages. The Park is a registered charity, run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland who also own Edinburgh Zoo.
We specialise in Scottish wildlife and endangered animals of the world’s colder climates, including Amur tigers, Bactrian camels, yak, wolverine, Scottish wildcats and lynx. For some of the animals, like our snow leopards, arctic foxes and three polar bears, Walker, Arktos and Victoria, winter is probably their favourite time of year, particularly when there is snow. The Park is divided into two main areas – the drive-through reserve and the walk-round area. In the Main Reserve visitors drive past European bison, red deer, vicugna, elk and Przewalski horses. Landrover Tours of the Main Reserve are also available daily with our knowledgeable guides, and visitors can sign up for these in our shop. In the walk-round area you can meet our Scottish wildcats, lynx and markhor before heading towards the Visitor Centre and the red pandas, snow monkeys and European cranes. Our Wolf Wood is home to our European wolves, European forest reindeer and wild red squirrels. Every day, visitors can join the animal feeding talks which take place around the Park and can then warm up in Antlers Café with a bowl of homemade soup before visiting the well-stocked giftshop for a souvenir of their visit.
