Kingussie Winter Sports

Kingussie is an ideal base for a winter sports holiday, the snow usually arrives in early December and stays on the mountains until mid April.

Cairngorm Mountain

Scotland's largest ski area, is a 30 minute car journey and caters for all standards of skiing and snowboarding abilities as well as offering ski hire and tuition for beginners and a funicular railway uplift. Cairngorm Mountain website and webcams .

The Lecht Ski Area

The Lecht ski area is only one hour away on the Tomintoul road. This caters mainly for beginners and intermediates and can often offer excellent snow conditions. See the Lecht website and webcams.

Nevis Range

You can also head West to the Nevis range one hours drive from Kingussie. which boasts a cable car uplift. See the Nevis Range website and webcams.

Ski Touring

For the more adventurous "Ski Touring" both on skis and split boards is becoming increasingly popular and a recognised route begins at Kingussie High street and takes you 4 miles to the summit of Fhreiceadain in the Monaliaths and a wonderful ski decent back down to the village. A 5-6 hour trip, this can be done on cross country equipment as well as ski mountaneering equipment.
